Everyone knows that the best pizza comes from Italy, but the country also has a special thing for disco. In the 80's, the electronic music scene was flooded with Italo disco, a typical music genre that might be the laughing stock today, but has been of major influence of today's house music. being a sucker for this genre, Italian jock and producer Luciano Pizzella's aims to bring back the sound of disco in a 21st century house format, which has lead him to the release of his latest output entitled Electronic Clouds.

This EP, released on the German Italic label, comes with a total of three tracks. The title track Electronic Clouds comes with a thumping kick and trendy high-pitched bass sounds with electro-esque rimshots and percussion to complete the rhythm. The bass sounds take care of the melody, while the track continues to evolve into some sort of minimal/house crossover. Starting off very easy and laidback, the track is eventually spiced up with a series of sinister synthesizer waves which give the overall a more proggy vibe. This is a track that grows on you: listen carefully and you'll discover hidden melodies and subtle switches.

"Dark and funky, and well thought-out."

Your Music Moved My Teeth introduces a modulated synth wave while a soft kick guides the listener to a minimal sequence. It soon enough clear that the synthesizer forms the most important element of the track, as it continues to evolve throughout the tune's duration. Yet again, somewhere in the middle of the track, Luciano modulates the synths and supporting basses in such a way that a sinister vibe is once again created. Dark and funky, and well thought-out. This is what Sven Väth would be playing in the middle of a filthy minimal set.

Last one up is Muscle Contraction, a track that starts off as the perfect mix between disco and house, with a typical Italo bass-line to support a thumping kick. This one is by far the darkest off all tracks on the EP, with just a few raw elements to be heard. It is also the most balanced track, as Luciano creates a perfect 4x4 house rhythm that would fit well into any club DJ's set. A bit of tech-house, a bit of jacking disco... plus a series of well cool (modulated, of course) synthesizers and high-pitched tones. This one's definitely highlighting the release!

Luciano Pizzella made it to the record bags of Digweed and Väth in the past, and his new EP is most likely to end up among those same jocks as well. Electronic Clouds is a qualitative house meets minimal meets disco package for the demanding music lover.
