DJ MAG TO SURVIVE?
| ||
|
' ...the dark clouds surrounding dance music have cleared up...' | After the demise of vinyl distributor intergroove's UK headquarters last week, and the earlier news of Britains best read DJ monthly DJ Mag being moribund, the dark clouds surrounding dance music have cleared up, at least a bit, as DJ Mag was saved from the flames at the last possible instant. According to several dance-related blogs, it is Music Industry Manual, or MIM for short, that has provided the Mag with a new financial impulse, of course in exchange for ownership, sparing an icon in a scene that is increasingly going web-based, or at least without a subscription fee. As the source claims, James Robertson, representative for MIM stated that the deal is perfect for both parties. As the mag has an extremely loyal following, the brand is powerful, and an asset for investors. He also announced a new editorial-web board, strengthening the hybrid of both on-line and off-line presence. Apparently, this is a necessity, as the final rundown of the magazine's top 100 DJ list was only released on-line a day after the official announcement of the winners, leaving many in doubt about their position. |
