For the past five years, Chris Lake has been living the dream. As a DJ he's travelled the globe. As a producer, he's topped industry charts over and over again. As a lover of music, he continues to chase down the freshest beats around. Simply put, he's become one of the great DJ/Producers of the world.

In 2009 Chris turned to the Americas with the intention of winning over two of the great musically cultural continents. Two Billboard Dance chart airplay number 1's and multiple tours, have ensured that from Vancouver to Rio, NYC to Miami… the sound of Chris Lake has travelled far and wide, and is now embraced with loving arms, no matter what the city.

1. What is your first memory to music?
My Mum was always listening to music, so I remember hearing all of her old records. She was mostly into 80's pop. Belinda Carlisle, Eurythmics, Pet Shop Boys etc. I listened to all sorts when I was a kid you know. Mum told me she used to play music to her bump when she was pregnant. I wonder if that really made me musical? Who knows

2. What is your favorite piece of equipment you use in the studio or DJing and why?
Hmmmm, I guess it would be my Moog Voyager. It's ridiculously fat sounding, and whenever you put it into a track, it just sits perfectly. I love it

3. What is your current top 5? (artist/title/label)
Todd Terry - Something going on (Prok and Fitch remix)
Marco Lys - Mombasa
Chris Lake vs Nightriders - Love that sound
Sander Van Doorn - Reach Out
Pleasurekraft - Tarantula (Hugo Remix)

4. Sex, Drugs or Rock 'n Roll?
Is this an offer or a question? Question? Sex

5. What music outside the electronic spectrum, do you listen to?
Well, most stuff I listen to is pretty electronic based. One of my favourite bands is Air. I also like stuff like Amon Tobin, and Sia, but I also really love Jazz. Such an amazing genre

6. Do you think (dance) music is able to lie?
Hmmm, dunno about lie, but it can talk a load of shit sometimes. Listen to most dance music lyrics. Nonsense :)

7. What is the last book you have read and what did you think of it?
Freakanomics. That was about 4 years ago. I can't even remember what it was about now.......

8. Are all your friends involved in (dance) music?
You know what, unfortunately, most of them yes. It's quite a shame but I don't have much of a life outside the scene. I still have friends in Scotland that I went to school with that I always keep in touch with, but don't get to see much as I have very little time. I went up very recently though, and everyone's having kids and stuff. My turn next maybe!

9. What would you do with a million ping pong balls?
Sell them to a ping pong distributor

10. What can we expect of you in the near future?
Well I've just finished mixing the new Toolroom Knights album which is actually out now and at the moment I'm writing an iTunes mini album with Marco Lys, which we hope to get out around October. It's exciting because we both work very well together, and we've really found our own individual style right now so we're making the most of it putting it into album form. I'll also be doing plenty of touring around Europe and the Americas, as well as my residency at Mau5 and friends for Cream in Ibiza. This one is going to be large. Finally, I'll be appearing at the SW4 festival in London in August. I can't wait for this one!
